Counselling sessions

I work with adults (18+), on an individual basis, for either open-ended or brief work.

In-depth work and lasting change often takes time, and clients usually attend for as long as is necessary to achieve such change. There is no set length of time for this to happen. It depends on many factors, including the length of time that you have been experiencing difficulties, and the nature of the problem. Clients may choose to attend for several months or, in some cases, years. However, sometimes people choose to attend for a set number of sessions, for brief work (6-12 sessions), where they wish to gain clarity, insight and support focussed on a specific issue or event in their life.

In the first instance, we would meet for an assessment session. In this session we would consider together whether counselling with me is likely to be the best way forward for you. Whilst assessment is often completed in one session, i
n some cases, a more lengthy assessment period may be necessary. If this is the case, this will be discussed with you at the end of your first appointment.

At the end of the assessment, we may agree to work together. In this case, the duration of the counselling is discussed and we may decide to together for a set number of sessions ('time-limited' work), or to have an open-ended agreement. In other cases, it may be that I am not the most appropriate person for you to see. Where this is deemed to be the case, I may be able to suggest a more appropriate service for you.

For counselling sessions we meet at the same time each week. Each session is 50 minutes long.

Please enquire for information on fees.
